Shannon Byrnes is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist specializing in Pre-Marital Counseling. She has a private practice in West Los Angeles and Old Town Pasadena. Shannon also consults for New Health Consultants, and works closely with nutritional counselors and alternative bodywork healers to provide a mind-body approach to optimal health.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Shannon is very mindful of the areas that are important to explore including strengths which couples can use to deepen awareness and connection to one another. She utilizes an inventory known as Prepare/Enrich which explores many areas such as communication, conflict resolution, spirituality, finances, family of origin issues, parenting, friendships, leisure activities, habits and many more. It is a very effective tool designed to illuminate information that is very helpful for couples planning a life together.

Shannon offers a complimentary session because she feels it is important that couples feel a connection to their therapist and that they find a good fit. She provides a complimentary copy of Susan Piver's book, "The Hard Questions", and a summary letter upon completion of Pre-Marital Counseling.

Shannon has extensive experience working with individuals struggling with relationships, self-esteem, eating disorders, trauma, and chemical dependency. She enjoys working with adolescents, young adults, and couples.

Shannon Byrnes teaches life coach strategies to help her clients realize their life goals. She assists them expand their personal awareness and be accountable for what they have learned about themselves. She provides a holistic approach balancing health, relationships and career. Strategies teach organizational skills, time management skills and facilitate clients' increasing success and contentment in their lives.

Shannon Byrnes currently facilitates group psychotherapy in Parenting, Self Esteem/Empowerment, Anger Management and Eating Disorder Recovery Groups. She has extensive experience facilitating art groups for children suffering from Anxiety, parent support groups for children on the Autism Spectrum and Domestic Violence Prevention, and Anger Management groups.

Shannon has worked with couples for many years. She is certified by the Prepare /Enrich program to administer couples inventories for pre-marital, co-habitating couples, marital couples and marital couples with children from previous marriages (blended families), in different stages of the life cycle. She has worked closely with local churches in San Fernando Valley and West Los Angeles /Santa Monica to prepare couples for marriage.

In addition to her own private practice, Shannon is a part of a group of psychotherapists at La Vie Counseling Center where she works in both the Pasadena and Santa Monica locations with a variety of individual, couple and adolescent clients. Shannon is currently receiving advanced Psychoanalytic Training at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis and continues to grow in colleague consultation at La Vie. Shannon is a board member of Los Angeles CAMFT for Trauma Response and is a member of CAMFT, AAMFT and IAPSP.
